So – using your private key on a public website is secure? Don’t you think the first reviewer in the crypto community who sees that is going to ask you what crack you are smoking.

Sure, you can explain that it isn’t stored anywhere – its safe, blah blah … and maybe thats all true. However, its not running on my computer and its my only private key that i use to sign my transactions, get my funds … to me this seems like something that is going to make a lot of heat come at something that seemed like a good idea.

Ya, seems a bit strange. Really don’t want that stuff posted anywhere.

From what i can see it is a local software and the key would probably be safe. If anything goes wrong all the security experts in the world would say “so you seriously posted your key to a web interface you loaded from the internet?”

There has to be another way, like an embedded app that you run inside your horizon web app.

Curious to see the replies for this. I know nothing on the matter so I’m going to wait for replies.

Don’t get me wrong and also IF am not related with HZ officials in any way.

HZ team should ‘encourage’ people to use their own wallet node running on own safe host to trade on HZXchange.

Using ‘private key’ on public Internet aka HZXchange.net website should treat as ‘Secoundary’ option and same like web wallet provided by HZ Officials.

Answer for HZXchange.net UI is simple, if you really serious about security and privacy, you must run your own node before even creating any account. In other way, If you never bother to ask using web wallet before, you “Shouldn’t” ask for HZXchange.

For me, I use ‘diffrent & secondary account’ only created for trade with low amount of balance. But HZ Team should clearly post any kind of warning in front of user eye sight describing the risk of entering “private key” in any Internet site. Come on HZ team, don’t think like programmer or developer, think like a noob user when you are dealing with money and security and so on……

Yes, HZ wallet has option for “Asset Exchange” build-in inside by default. That is the official way to trade any asset live on HZ block chain.

As there is no way to preview or edit of own posting here I have to create another reply to edit my posting.

    First line of my post
// Don’t get me wrong and also IF am not related with HZ officials in any way. //

    Need to be read as:

The secret is only used local in the browser.

    QUICK START TRADING GUIDE <click>

“Entering your passphrase into the login box is 100% safe as we use a process called ‘local signing’. This means that nothing is transferred between your computer and the internet. This site never sends requests to other servers, except the HZ server specified in the settings. Your passphrase never leaves your browser.”

    Hi, guys!

You can just enter any passphrase (more than 50 symbols) and HZExchange will create new account and public key for you. Then just save your new passphrase and public key in a safe place. After that you can use your new account just like in any another exchange: deposits and withdrawals. Enjoy!!! :)

Ok – some good responses – i am glad we talk about this. I don’t think my point has been lost or is completely uninformed.

I know my locally installed web wallet is somewhat secure. Sending via a post to a remote site, even if it has localled executed code is hard to imagine as totally secure.
