This is just another friendly but very important reminder of updating your hallmark node software to latest v3.9.1 version to continue getting node bounty after 3rd May 1915.

If you still running old backdated buggy versions, it is the time foy your action. Updating your software will keep flowing HZ towards your account and it will also keep Horizon Network strong.

Being new to HZ and any sort of crypto-node operation I totally concur with the need for a Q&A on operating a hallmark node. While the “how-to setup..” tutorial on this site is straight-forward
    https://horizonplatform.io/how-to-setup-a-horizon-node/

.. additional insight on the nuances of confirming node operation would be really helpful. In my case I’ve successfully configured a hallmark node on a Window 7 Pro workstation with a Symantec Endpoint firewall with the standard “Allow Applications” rule (permitting stateful application traffic) and thinkingI needed to permit Port 7774-TCP Inbound I added a rule for that and have been waiting just under 3 hrs now for my node to be confirmed on the node-checker page
    https://explorer.horizonplatform.io/?page=nodecheck

Monitoring the firewall log I haven’t seen anything blocked on Port 7774 and am wondering what indication besides the node-checker page there would be that my hallmark node has interacted with the horizon network.

    Posting on BitCoinTalk forum:

// Thanks MaWo for the explanation. I see in my firewall log at 7:44AM EST the first allowed inbound on port 7774-TCP w/regular inbound thereafter and now see the node checker confirming my node approx 2 days after setting that up.

So I can talk intelligently with my network admin about this could you provide a quick explanation about what the hallmark node actually does? Would that be a similar function as an active bitcoin node, presumeably to share in distribution of blockchain and whatever else a node does? Thanks again for helping me understand this.//
